Is there a 24-hour emergency dentist in Croydon?
Yes. Urban Health Care on Croydon High Street is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including weekends, bank holidays and Christmas. Call 020 8686 7401 at any time and a member of our clinical team will answer and arrange your emergency appointment.
Do I need to be a registered patient to be seen?
No. We welcome all patients, existing or new at any time. You do not need to have visited us before. Simply call 020 8686 7401, describe your emergency, and we will arrange an appointment.
What is an OPG scan and why do I need it?
An OPG is a panoramic X-ray that gives us a full view of your jaw, teeth, and joints. It’s essential for safe wisdom tooth removal and implant planning.
What should I do if I knock out a tooth?
Act quickly, a knocked-out tooth can sometimes be saved if you reach us within 60 minutes. Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently with milk or water, and try to place it back in the socket. If you can’t, store it in milk or your own saliva. Call 020 8686 7401 immediately.
Can you treat dental abscesses out of hours?
Yes. A dental abscess requires prompt treatment, we can drain the abscess and prescribe antibiotics at any hour. If you have swelling affecting your breathing or swallowing, go directly to A&E or call 999. For all other abscesses, call us first.
What is the difference between Urban Health Care and NHS emergency dental?
Urban Health Care is a private clinic. This means no NHS waitlists, no 111 callbacks that may take hours, and no being told to ‘take painkillers and call back in the morning.’ We see you immediately, at any hour, with a senior clinician. Private emergency appointments start from £95.
